Clock Dial Restoration & Gilding Page

Established for over thirty years restoring clock movements and the cases, most if not all have been repaired in the past without respect to the original makers skill.

Our aim is to sympathetically repair and restore the clock or barometer to as near its original condition as possible with full regard to its age.

Movements are stripped, cleaned and polished as appropriate. Spring movements are fitted with new springs as standard, fusee movements are also fitted with new gut or wire lines, as are longcase clocks. Pivot holes are re-bushed as required, new and replacement parts are made in keeping with the age and style of the clock. Cases are cleaned and repaired, new parts made in the same wood using traditional glues, then the polish is revived if it is possible or re-polished if not. All metal case parts cleaned and lacquered or gilded.

All items are photographed on arrival as a record of their condition and again during the stages of restoration, copies sent to the customer via post or e-mail.

Please be willing to wait two or three months for work to be completed, estimates are provided at the outset of all work. Valuation with photographs can be supplied on completion.
